Procedure for Operation of Hot Water Generation System
- OBJECTIVE:
- To lay down the Procedure for operation of hot water generation system installed in technical area.
- SCOPE:
- This SOP is applicable to operation of hot water generation system installed in technical area of Production block .
- RESPONSIBILITY:
- Technician/ Operator of Engineering Department shall be responsible for proper execution of operation as per SOP.
- Engineering – Head shall be responsible for reviewing the SOP and for ensuring proper execution as per SOP.
- ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Engineering – Head shall be accountable for proper implementation of the SOP.

- PROCEDURE:
- Start up of hot water generation system:
- Check, the water level in the hot water make up tank.
- Check the main steam valve, inlet, outlet valve of PRV are opened and by pass valve is closed.
- Check the suction, discharge and main header outlet valves of hot water circulation pumps are opened.
- Check the in and out connection of heat exchanger are proper and no leakage, if found rectify the same.
- Switch on the hot water circulation pump by pressing the start (Green) push button.
- To Stop the hot water generation system:
- Switch off the hot water circulation pump by pressing the stop (Red) push button.
- Stop the steam supply, after that close all the inlet and outlet valve of the system.
- Record the activity for Hot water generator as per Format No. SOP/EN/XXXYYY. Atleast one recording should be done in each shift, for following operation parameter;

- Hot Water Supply Temperature (deg C)
- Hot Water Return Temperature (deg C)
- Hot Water Supply Pressure (Kg/sq.cm (g))

- Regularly checks the tightness of the all fittings, if required tighten the same.
- Check the system for any leakages, if found attend the same.
- Clean the strainer regularly once in a week.
- Blow down the system regularly and add the fresh water to make up.
